The gist

Cape Town wraps a flat-topped mountain in beaches, vineyards, and the dramatic Cape Peninsula — Table Mountain, the Cape of Good Hope, the Boulders penguins, and the Stellenbosch wine country, all within an hour. It’s spectacular and a strong value for the quality.

Advisor notes

COMMON MISTAKE

Banking on a single morning to summit Table Mountain — the cableway closes in wind and cloud constantly; go up the first clear morning you get, not on a fixed day.

SKIP THIS

Cramming it into two days — the peninsula drive, the winelands, and the mountain each want a half-day; rushing wastes the best parts.

TIMING MATTERS

It’s Southern Hemisphere, so the warm, dry, beach-and-wine months are November–March; June–August is the cool, wet, green winter.
